Contemporary Performance

Central to The Performance Centre’s teaching philosophy is a desire to expose our students to the best contemporary practice across the disciplines of Music, Theatre and Dance; to flex their imaginations and stretch their own creativity. We’re keen to share that opportunity with everyone else as well.

Our year-round Contemporary Performance programme is linked to our curriculum and curated by our academic staff. It enables us to bring to Cornwall the same quality of often experimental and cutting-edge modernist performance presented at other distinguished institutions such as the Arnolfini in Bristol, the ICA in London, Ircam in Paris, and CalArts in Los Angeles. Performances that might otherwise rarely be programmed here.

Some of the works are highly accessible, some are challenging; an eclectic mix, often combined with workshops and talks on every aspect from technique to the well of inspiration. And we are extremely pleased to be able to make them available to all.

We want to play our part in helping to develop a wider audience for the contemporary performing arts in Cornwall, so we subsidise these performances, keeping ticket prices as low as we can to ensure they are available to as many people as possible.

We are also keen to showcase and promote the work of a wide variety of performers. Anyone wanting more information about appearing at the Performance Centre should contact  amataprogramming@falmouth.ac.uk
